If uveitis is suspected, the treating doctor will discuss personal and family medical history and perform a number of examinations.
These include an eye test and a slit lamp exam which will help to detect abnormalities and changes in the eye. In the event of acute symptoms, they can also perform an ophthalmoscopy to detect changes in the fundus that were previously not visible.
In order to recognise a disease such as glaucoma, the intraocular pressure can also be measured. In most cases, additional examinations, such as a blood sample, are necessary, including sometimes by other specialists, in order to recognise infections or any underlying diseases.
